how Sweets by Elize, LLC came to be

I’ve always been enamored with baking and French pastry. “I’ll open a small bakery with the cutest pastries when I retire” is what my past self would say. But I started truly experimenting with baking while living in my small studio NYC apartment with my teeny tiny oven. The kitchen was so small, I would joke it was an “easy-bake” oven. Nevertheless, I made many treats for my coworkers, family, and friends. I found out I was actually pretty good at it too! New challenges and flavors piqued my curiosity and led me to experiment even more. I started playing with decorating cookies for special events and continued to bake for friends and family - even through the pandemic when I moved from New York back home to Connecticut.

Everything changed when I received my first cookie order for an engagement party. Then I got a second order…then a third, and eventually I was getting consistent orders! I moved to New Jersey in June of 2022, got married in October of 2023, I finally received my cottage food operators license. In May of 2025, Sweet by Elize, LLC was created and the rest is history!

I feel so lucky to be surrounded by such a supportive community with a great love for artisan crafts and handmade items. I have felt so included and celebrated, it’s truly been a dream come true. I’m looking forward to growing, learning, and creating - afterall, isn’t that what life is all about?
